For many of our services we offer a published fixed price, in all other instances your lawyer will be able to provide you with a price having discussed your case and understood the work involved to get you to a particular stage. 

Choosing a fixed price service from Yeo & Associates LLC provides you with certainty about the help you will receive and the amount you will have to pay. 

Sometimes there will be additional fees to pay to the Courts or, for example, to obtain copy documents. These costs will always be explained by your lawyer.

Fixed Price Divorce – Uncontested divorce

This fixed price is relevant if you are the one initiating the divorce proceedings.  You will be known as the petitioner.

Our fixed price uncontested divorce is for you if you want:

What is an uncontested divorce? 

An uncontested divorce is one where you and your spouse have agreed to obtain a divorce. It assumes that the other party does not formally object to the divorce and that the Court accepts the grounds for divorce without question (which is normally the case).

Your lawyer will collect all the relevant details from you, correspond on your behalf with the other parties involved (your spouse and their solicitor, if appropriate) and prepare and file all the relevant papers with the Court to obtain a divorce.

Your lawyer will obtain the information we need from you and send you a divorce procedure explanation. They will prepare and file all the appropriate paperwork as follows:

  • Generate Writ for Divorce, Statement of Claim, Memorandum of Appearance, Acknowledgement of Service
  • Drafting the Statement of Particulars and Draft Consent Order/Draft Interim Judgment from scratch
  • An application for the Interim Judgment
  • An application for the Final Judgment (Divorce) i.e. Certificate for Divorce.


Throughout the process your lawyer will keep you informed of progress.

In addition to the completion and filing or all the paperwork we include an allowance of up to 2 hours discussion with you by phone, e-mail or in person to address any concerns or issues arising from the paperwork. In the vast majority of cases this is more than sufficient to deal with the divorce process.

Court fees

The divorce Court will require you to pay standard government fees. These are currently $____  payable when the petition is filed. This is included in our total cost for a fixed price divorce. 

Additional fees 

In most cases the above follows through without difficulty. In some cases there can be additional issues to be resolved and we do charge extra for this additional work, examples can be: sorting out a financial agreement, advice on contact to children, not being able to trace the other party, the other party denying receipt of the papers, needing to obtain a private detective and so on.

If you decide to apply for an order to have your spouse pay the costs you have incurred in obtaining the divorce additional work may be required and your lawyer will explain the costs to you. In some instances you may be required to attend court to address this aspect of your case.

If you need advice on reaching a financial settlement with your partner or arrangements for your children this is likely to involve additional work which your lawyer will explain.

Any extra work and costs will be discussed and agreed with you before any work is undertaken.

Fixed Price Divorce – Uncontested Defendant Divorce

This fixed price package is relevant if someone is divorcing you and / or you have received divorce papers.

What is an uncontested Defendant divorce?

An uncontested defendant divorce is one where you have received (or told to expect) divorce papers from your spouse and you do not make a formal legal objection to the divorce going through.

Your lawyer will collect all the relevant details from you, correspond on your behalf with the other parties involved (your spouse and their solicitor, if appropriate) and prepare and file all the relevant papers.

Your lawyer will collect all relevant details from you, correspond on your behalf with the other parties involved (your spouse and their solicitor, if appropriate) and prepare all the relevant papers. They will explain the procedure to you and help you understand the process. They will deal with the relevant paperwork as follows:

  • Explaining the grounds for divorce and the ancillary terms which will be prepared by the other party.

*In the event of a dispute regarding whether you should contribute towards the other party’s legal costs of the divorce the fixed price will not include any work required in this respect. Annulment

Annulment of a marriage (uncontested) 

You may apply for an annulment under Singapore law if you satisfy one of the following criteria:

  • If either party was already married at the time of your marriage
  • If either party didn’t or was unable to give valid consent to the marriage
  • If you or your spouse was under 16 at the time of the wedding
  • If you weren’t a fully male/female couple 
  • If you and your spouse were related (this is complex and needs some consideration by an experienced lawyer)
  • If your spouse had a communicable form of a sexually transmitted disease when you got married that you were unaware of.
  • If your spouse was pregnant with someone else’s child and you didn’t know about it

What is an annulment?

An annulment is a legal procedure for declaring a marriage null and void. It has the legal effect of wiping out the marriage as if it never existed.

Uncontested

This fixed price assumes that the other party does not formally object to the annulment and that the Court accepts the grounds. If you expect the case to be disputed by your spouse you should speak to a Yeo & Associates LLC family lawyer about your case before booking a fixed fee annulment.

for Expert Family Law Advice

Your lawyer will prepare and file all the appropriate paperwork as follows:

  • A form called a ‘Writ for Nullity’ is completed by your lawyer and sent to the Court office.
  • The other party should then fill in a type of receipt saying whether they accept that the nullity should be granted. This is copied, to you.
  • You will need to attend Court for the final hearing.


Throughout this process your lawyer will tell you when one of the above steps has been taken.

We include an allowance for discussion with you by phone, e-mail or in person and the completion and filing of all the paperwork. 

Court fees

The Court require you to pay standard government fees. These are currently S$____ payable when the petition is filed. This is included in the total fixed price for an annulment above.

Additional fees

You would normally choose to have a lawyer represent you at the final hearing.  We would confirm this cost at the appropriate time, normally on a fixed fee basis.

In some cases there can be additional issues to be resolved and we do charge extra for this additional work, examples can be: not being able to trace the other party, the other party denying receipt of the papers, needing to obtain a private detective or needing to deal with complicated medical issues..

Prenuptial agreement

An agreement which provides clarity around finances and children

What is a prenuptial agreement? 

  • A prenuptial agreement provides clarity for couples in respect of their finances and children in their relationship. A Prenuptial Agreement is suitable for both marrying couples and couples about to register their Civil Partnership.
  • The Agreement must be entered into voluntarily, each party having had independent legal advice and must be signed at least 21 days prior to any wedding or civil partnership ceremony.
  • Your lawyer will obtain the information needed from you and create an agreement for your signature. The Courts are not obliged under UK law to keep to the agreement but unless there have been significant changes they are likely to regard the agreement as very persuasive. As a result of recent case law, provided the relevant conditions are met, they are more likely to be upheld.

The price includes drafting and amending the agreement as well as time for discussions and advice for you. It assumes that you have agreed the general nature of what you would like to happen if your relationship ends. Assets over S$5  million 

This fixed price above is valid in cases where the assets of the couple concerned are below S$5 million. Where there are assets above this level a much more detailed investigation of the finances is required which may involve other advisers (for example IFAs and pensions specialists) and the discussions and negotiations may take longer. If you believe this applies to you contact Yeo & Associates LLC  to obtain a quote, we would expect to be able to agree a fixed fee having discussed your particular circumstances.

Any work required in excess of the hours shown above will be charged for at our normal rates.

What is involved in a detailed case assessment? 

This is an opportunity for you to explain to the lawyer your particular circumstances and what you want to do next. Your lawyer will give you a detailed assessment of your case and advise on the next steps in outline.

Divorce Support Specialist Agencies

Setting up Divorce Support Specialist Agencies (DSSAs) was one of the Family Justice Committee’s recommendations to enhance child centricity and provide support for divorcing and divorced families and children. 

DSSAs are staffed by social service practitioners equipped with the specialist knowledge and skills in handling divorce issues. They provide services ranging from information and non-legal advice pertaining to divorce, case management, counselling and family dispute management. They also run programmes catering to the unique needs of families facing divorce.

There are four DSSAs, namely:

  • Care Corner Centre for Co-Parenting

  • HELP Family Service Centre

    *PPIS is currently the only DSSA that caters to divorced/divorcing Muslim couples.

Parenting PACT 

This programme aims to help divorced parents with minor children understand the impact of divorce on their children, learn cooperative co-parenting strategies and practise self-care. The 2-hour one-time consultation session also offers information about the community support resources available to families post-divorce. It is currently available to parents with children below the age of 14, and will be extended to parents of children aged below 21.

Children-in-Between (CIB)

The Family Justice Courts may order the parents to attend the CIB programme conducted by an appointed agency of the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF).

  1. The programme is only for parents with at least one child 6 and above to under 15 years of age. Children under 6 and above 15 years of age are not required to attend.
  2. The parents will be contacted by the MSF appointed agency. They will provide the parents with the details for attendance in the programme.
  3. The parents are expected to cooperate and comply with any and all requests made by the programme facilitator in the course of the programme, including but not limited to:
    • Attending all sessions, unless valid reasons are given and written approval sought;
    • Attending all sessions punctually.
  1. Feedback by the appointed agency with regard to the parents’ attendance/participation may be given to the Court for its consideration and/or direction.

This is an evidence-based programme developed by child experts. It has two components – one for parents and another for children. The parent component comprises two sessions (2 hours/session) highlighting ways in which children can be caught in the middle of their parents’ emotional conflict. 

The child component is a skills-based programme held over 3 sessions (2 hours/session) to equip children with the necessary skills to manage their feelings and develop resilience despite their parents’ divorce. The programme offers age-appropriate activities that cater to the needs of primary and secondary school-going children.

Other Support Programmes

There are several other support programmes offered by the DSSAs where divorcing/divorced parents and children can come together in a safe and confidential environment to share their experience and offer mutual support. 

The following are programmes offered at PPIS:

PPIS As-Salaam Family Support Centre

  • A.W.A.R Support Programme for Single Mothers: 
    This programme provides support to divorced and widowed mothers with dependent children.
  • SALAAM Support Programme: 
    For children/adolescents who experience grief arising from the loss of parents through divorce.

Order to Facilitate Supervised Exchange/Supervised Visitation Programme

The Court may order parents to attend the Supervised Exchange / Supervised Visitation Programme.

If either parent cannot make it for the sessions, for whatever reason, the Agency is to be informed at least 24 hours before the session is to take place. For avoidance of doubt, the parents are not to cancel the session without a valid reason. The Court will decide whether the reason for cancellation is a valid one and the Court may order or make directions for alternative makeup sessions or no session at all.

If the access parent is late for the session for more than 15 minutes, the care and control parent may terminate the Session in consultation with the Agency, and leave the premises of the Agency together with the children.

The Court may order Parties to pay for the sessions (where applicable with effect from the fourth order). If payment is not made punctually, the Agency will have the sole discretion to terminate the Sessions, and to report to the Court the reasons for the termination.

The Agency has the sole discretion to terminate the session, if it deems fit, in the interests of the children involved in the session, and to report to the Court the reasons for the termination. For instance, if either or both parents fail to attend two or more sessions in a row, the Agency shall write to the Court to inform of the termination of the Programme and request for the matter to be reviewed.

The Court may review the Programme at any time, at its own accord and may require the Agency to provide a report on the sessions at any time.

With effect from 1 December 2016, Certificate of Completion for Mandatory Parenting Programme is required to be produced to the Family Court during our application to commence your divorce proceeding.

To obtain the Certificate of Completion, you are to attend a Mandatory Parenting Programme

The Mandatory Parenting Programme is a one-to-one consultation session for parents with minor children before they file for divorce. It is designed to encourage divorcing couples make informed decisions that prioritize the well-being of children. 

This is a two-hour session by counsellors from Divorce Support Specialist Agencies (DSSAs). Pursuant to section 94A of the Women’s Charter, all parents with children below 14 years old are required under the to attend this programme if they do not have a signed formal agreement pertaining to a parenting plan and all other divorce matters. 

The consultation aims to help parents understand:

  • the financial challenges of divorce
  • how divorce impacts living arrangements
  • child custody and access
  • the importance of co-parenting and having a parenting plan

Pursuant to Section 50(3A) of the Women’s Charter, it is mandatory for all divorcing couples with at least one child below 21 years of age to attend counselling and mediation at the Child Focused Resolution Centre (CFRC) located at 5 Maxwell Road #04-00 Tower Block, MND Complex Singapore 069110. Both parties and their lawyers are required to attend the Conference together.

The Judge mediator and Family Counsellor will meet with both parties and their lawyers to understand the issues which they may have pertaining to their children. Parties are expected to set aside about 2 hours for the whole session.

Parties and their lawyers are requested to come prepared to discuss their post-divorce plans relating to the care of the children. During the first session, the Judge mediator may direct parties and their lawyers to exchange proposals for settlement, prepare financial documents relating to the matrimonial house and assets, list of expenses for the parties and the children. The first mediation session would be usually be fixed where parties and their lawyers will attend to mediate towards an amicable and satisfactory settlement terms. Once parties reached an agreement to the terms, the Judge-mediator will order the filing of the Consent Order.
